Bluetooth classic

Bluetooth Classic, also known as Bluetooth Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR), supports point-to-point device communication and is primarily designed for wireless audio streaming.

Bluetooth LE

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is designed for ultra-low-power operation and supports multiple communication topologies, including point-to-point, broadcasting, and Mesh networking. Initially recognized for its device communication capabilities, BLE is now widely used for device positioning, addressing the growing demand for high-precision location-based services. BLE has also introduced features that enable one device to determine the presence, distance, and direction of another device.

BR/EDR+LE Dual-Mode Bluetooth

Dual-mode Bluetooth is a single-chip solution that integrates advanced RF circuitry and baseband architecture to support both Bluetooth Classic (BR/EDR) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol stacks independently.

LE Audio & LC3

LE Audio is Bluetooth’s next-generation low-power audio architecture. Powered by the LC3 codec, it reduces power consumption and bandwidth requirements by more than 50% while maintaining comparable audio quality. Its multi-stream audio capability enables an audio source to deliver independent audio streams to multiple receivers, laying the foundation for Auracast broadcast audio technology.

AURACAST

Auracast is a new Bluetooth audio broadcast technology introduced by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) based on the LE Audio framework. Often described as a “Bluetooth version of a public broadcast system,” Auracast enables one-to-many audio broadcasting and is built entirely on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.

Channel Sounding

Channel Sounding, is a reliable way to estimate distance by using phase-based measurements (and related methods) as part of the Bluetooth evolution toward true distance awareness. Channel Sounding leverages procedures such as Phase‑Based Ranging (PBR) (and optionally Round‑Trip Timing (RTT)) to estimate the distance between two connected devices, aiming for sub‑meter performance in many conditions where RSSI is not enough.
